Choosing Kids' Drones for Your Store: Age, Safety and Battery Life

How retailers can compare kids' drone models by age range, safety features, flight time and price tier before buying stock.

Start with the age range

An age label such as "8+" should match the product's real design and the manual. Simple one-button drones suit beginners. Models with cameras or more advanced controls suit older children and adults. Match your stock to the shoppers you want to reach.

Compare safety features

  • Propeller guards
  • Low-speed or beginner mode
  • Emergency stop
  • Altitude hold and one-key takeoff and landing

Check each feature on the physical sample, not only on the spec sheet.

Check flight time and charging

Ask how many batteries come with each unit, the flight time per battery, the charging time and whether a charger is included. Spare batteries are a common add-on and can be sold separately.

Work backward from price

Start from your target retail price and subtract freight, duties, packaging, returns and marketing, not only the unit cost. Request quotes at several quantity levels to see where your margin works.
